The Skewed House in Palakkad emerges from the challenges of its harsh climatic context, skewed plot, and dense residential fabric. Drawing inspiration from the distant mountain ranges, the architects abstracted their forms into a composition of bold angular volumes. From afar, the house appears subdued and merges with its surroundings, but as one approaches, the monumental geometry gradually reveals itself, perfectly framed against the mountains. This balance of monumentality and intimacy becomes the guiding spirit of the project.

The spatial planning is organized into three principal bays interspersed with open-to-sky courts, ensuring natural ventilation and thermal comfort throughout the year. The house is deliberately introverted, opening not to the dense neighborhood but inward to landscaped courts, dynamic courtyards, and controlled light. Spaces transition fluidly, moving from compressed passages into soaring double-height volumes, allowing the play of air, light, and time to animate the interiors.
